The QRNEC competition was launched in 2005, as participating student teams from different Jordanian universities were required to present a business plan for a technology-based entrepreneurial project of their choice. The competition is sponsored for the second year in a row by the Jordan Telecom Group (JTG). The plans were presented before a panel of an internationally acclaimed judging committee that included experts from MIT, Cambridge, and other distinguished entrepreneurship centers, in addition to other entrepreneurs and business leaders. The winning team was awarded JD 15,000, the second and third were awarded JD 10,000 and JD 5,000 respectively. As a special recognition, the Princess also presented acknowledgment certificates to members of the international jury in appreciation for their efforts, in addition to parties responsible for mentoring the students throughout the competition’s final phase. Ninety-two teams submitted applications to QRNEC this year. The evaluation committee narrowed down the list to ten finalists, three of whom were selected as winners.
